We first took more than a passing glance at Dua Lipa when her music video for Be The One came on between the hoppy poppy top 40s running back to back on MTV. Born and bred in London, the 19 year-old singer-songwriter has worked with Emile Haynie and Andrew Wyatt, who’s also produced for Kanye, Lana Del Rey and FKA Twigs.
Judging from the generous douses of psychedelia and allure despite/because of her perpetually unbothered disposition, it’s no coincidence that she’s under the same management as LDR. Her Albanian ethnicity lends her sound and image a whole different air, completing a package that’s almost impossible to ignore amidst all of today’s other releases.
