Rain or Starshine, ZoukOut Seizes The Moment

For the past fifteen years, ZoukOut has been the yearly-anticipated pinnacle of Singapore’s mass party scene. And by mass, we mean MASS. Think 45,000 festival goers this past weekend, 40% of whom were foreign visitors from around the region – Hong Kong, Vietnam, Taiwan, Japan and more.11122015_ZoukOut_Colossal230_CleanSo it’s no surprise that despite the storm, wind and incessant drizzle overnight, people still showed and conquered set after set, drink after drink. There can only be so many of “EDM’s BIGGEST NAMES” but ZoukOut never fails to bring a nice new touch every year.

For example, an impressive variety of ramen by Tonkotsu King, perfect with that beer and for slurping up in the rainy weather.IMG_9794 copyIMG_9795 copyBesides, we have had our nightly sightings of interesting characters on the ground…IMG_9798 copyIMG_9782 copyIMG_9826 copy

And everybody secretly aches for another national occasion worthy of fireworks.IMG_9865 copyIMG_9984 copyBut all of these sensory treats on the fringe couldn’t tear our minds away from the sole impetus for making that trip down to Siloso Beach – Music is the heart of ZoukOut and its goers.IMG_9831 copyOur favourite acts this year include DJ Snake (you might know from Lean On), Tiësto, Shigga Shay (at Lush 99.5‘s well-populated Kaleidoscope Stage), Armin van BuurenAxwell Λ Ingrosso, and Mim & Liv Nervo (EDM’s first sisters hailing from Australia) to name a few.

Each time someone new took over the deck, it seemed like we were taken on a completely different magic carpet ride. The night took on so many shapes and colours, it was almost impossible to not want more.IMG_9843 copyWe can’t believe it’s over yet again. Here’s to another ZoukOut done and dusted, and another spectacular start to the end of the year.
