To coin an album title by Todd Rundgren, David Bowie was indeed “A Wizard, A True Star”. Blackstar, his last studio album before he passed away, is very much a masterpiece that’s fitting of his legacy. Featuring just seven powerful tracks that’s a fusion of jazz & avant-rock, this record is Bowie’s parting gift to us.
I love how the vinyl version of Blackstar is packaged simply in a gatefold, with a die-cut star as the cover. The booklet is finely printed with the vinyl record housed in a plastic sleeve instead of the usual paper type. An awesome album that’s appealing to all senses.
