The first festive holiday of the year sees Singapore-based record label Darker Than Wax collaborate with established dance event promoters Ice Cream Sundays for the former’s fourth edition of the ‘Open Door’ party series.
The label that has had stamp of approvals by global music taste makers Gilles Peterson and Lefto, present this day-to-night party alongside Ice Cream Sundays, at a defunct ship repairs factory in the heart of Jalan Besar – wherein the warehouse interior will host large scale visual installations by Singapore Arts Club with artists Dawn Ang & Tuan Mami (Vietnam) to bring some creative life to an otherwise unused, abandoned space.
The mix masters from DTW and ICS – FUNK BSTRD, Kaye, RAH, William J, Daryl Knows, ERI, Bongomann, Muto Masashi, and Toppings will be sound tracking your day and night to the visual experience with a selection of accessible beats – from Afrobeat to Asian funk, Brazilian boogie and classic house and disco.
As seen by DTW’s highly attended and critically acclaimed past dance events with Brew in a Jalan Besar courtyard and ICS’s most thrilling and recent rave at Haw Par Villa, this event is not to be missed on the dance music party list of gigs for January.
