From The South China Sea: Blood Wine or Honey’s Forthcoming Debut Album ‘Fear & Celebration’

Electronic band Blood Wine or Honey will drop their debut album entitled ‘Fear & Celebration’ on June 8th, 2018. From the get go, the music is a hypnotic and tropical tinged offering that is equally inspired by industrial warehouses and the many hidden alleys and streets of Hong Kong, as much as it is stimulated by their influences from late eighties to early nineties British music sub cultures.

The trio fiddles with and create music on a wide range of instruments – synthesizers, bass, cello, drums, saxophone, wind instruments & percussion – as well as laying down atypical vocal takes throughout the release. Style wise, the three sonically drift between anything from post-punk to bass or sound system music genres to tropical and afro-bitten polyrhythms, all while experimenting with dance floor tropes that are familiar to most but far out – to some ears and feet.

This album has been bubbling in a studio in Hong Kong, with Anxious Party People released around a year ago with much acclaim from dance floors as well as radio stations by receiving a nomination at Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards for ‘Track Of The Year’ in 2017, airplay on BBC 6 Music UK as well as KCRW in the United States. Its appeal has been pushed towards serious music fans via a feature on a Bandcamp Weekly show.
