If headliner Skratch Bastid himself extends the invite, there’s literally no excuse to not push aside your Sunday plans and make way for the return of Summerdaze. This time in the form of a major feel-good BBQ, beats & beer rooftop party, it’s all going down at The Great Escape (so-hip-it-hurteth rooftop bar at The Projector).

A founding member of the Invisibl Skratch Piklz and Triple Threat DJ crews, Shortkut is one of the West Coast’s most respected turntablists. At 18 he helped found the Invisibl Skratch Piklz with Mix Master Mike, Q-Bert, and DJ Disk. The Piklz went on to become one of the most influential DJ crews of the ’90s, leading Shortkut to a membership in highly acclaimed The Beat Junkies. Together with DJs Vinroc and Apollo, the Triple Threat crew won 2014’s Red Bull global event ‘Culture Clash’ in San Francisco, and they’ve graced the main stage at Summerdaze 2015. He also has an obsessive love for reggae music.

Having rocked the bar many times, Skratch Bastid is now ready to raise it. In 2012, The Bastid has become one of Canada’s most in-demand DJs and respected producers but don’t think it happened overnight. From his humble beginnings a decade ago as a teenager in Halifax- pumping out mixtapes from his bedroom and earning a loyal following already back then- he slowly spread his skills first at DJ competitions like DMC, ITF, and Scribble Jam and now around Canada and the world as a widely recognised go-to guy for party-rocking.
The illest redhead on turntables has since gone viral on his Youtube Channel.
On top of illustrious hip hop heavyweight DJ Shortkut (Invisibl Skratch Piklz / Beat Junkie Sound / Triple Threat DJs) and Canada’s hottest turntablist export DJ Skratch Bastid leading the party pack, members of Singapore-based DJ collectives Darker Than Wax, Pushin’On, Revision Music, Fat Fish Familia., Lion Steppaz Sound and Matteblacc won’t let the air go dead.
The heart of Summerdaze goes back to amplifying the soulful side of the musical spectrum: Hip Hop, Reggae, Funk, & Soul, House & Electronica – so come ready to soak up those funky vibes for hours on end. Tickets are especially affordable now, at $20 for Early Bird Purchases and $30 for Pre-Sale General Admission.
Friday and Saturday 12-11pm
Closed on Mondays.
486 Serangoon Road – Right turn at Sturdee Rd North.
That’s it for now! We’ll be back with more updates and goodies to check out from vendors, DJs and musicians that will be populating the rooftop next Sunday 19th March, from noon till midnight.
